Longshan Temple
Settlers from Fujian built this Wanhua temple in 1738. Look up at the roof for dragons and other figures.
Your neighborhood. Your next trip. Turn walks into Wikipedia cards about the places you discover. We’re building Wikimile for explorers around the world.
Coming to iPhone For curious walkers everywhere
A Wanhua temple built in 1738 by settlers from Fujian.
How it works
Your everyday walks earn miles you can spend on cards. Save them for a longer adventure or use one on the way home.
Pick a question mark on the map and walk to it. The place and the card inside stay a surprise until you open it.
Peel open a card, learn what happened right where you’re standing, and keep the discovery in your Passport.
A sample discovery
A card gives you a quick read, a photo, and a link to the full Wikipedia article. Try a sample from Taipei’s Wanhua district.

These screenshots use Taipei as an example. The idea travels with you: walk, learn, and collect the stories of the world.
Built for real walksBefore you head out
Wikimile is a location-based walking game for iPhone. It turns Wikipedia articles about real places into collectible cards you can discover on foot.
Yes—we’re building Wikimile for people around the world, from everyday explorers in their hometowns to travelers discovering somewhere new. The app is in development, and the current prototype uses Taipei with English-language cards. Supported locations and languages will be announced before release.
Wikimile connects a real-world walk with short reads about the places you visit. Each card includes a photo, a quick introduction, and a link to Wikipedia so you can explore the history or story in more detail.
Walking earns miles. Visit a mystery drop in person to open it with a free opening or spend a mile. Legendary cards cost ten miles and must be opened on site.
The iPhone app is in development. You can try the sample card on this page now.
